The actors in Shakespeare's company were not different. They consisted of a lead actor (Richard Burbage), a clown (Will Kempe and later Robert Armin), a number of regular sharers or partners (including Shakespeare, John Heminges and Henry Condell), a number of men who were hired for the particular production, and boy apprentices who played children and women. Note that there were no actresses; that was forbidden by law.
