Unfortunately, although we have come a long way as a nation, there is still a number of people who would not vote for a Mormon regardless of their qualifications or skill. Someday we should learn to judge people "by the content of their character, and not by the color of their skin" or their personal faith.
I think the percentage of people who still feel that way is pretty small.
I believe he lost because all the nit pic politics that went on overshadowed peoples ability to really learn who he was and what he stood for. I think that there are quit a few major points that that led to those results. The Mormon church "issue" was one of the smallest ones.

No. Glenn Beck's conspiracy theories will do nothing to get Mitt Romney elected. Mitt Romney being president would not make world governments fail. And Mormons do not believe they will rule with Jesus, only Jesus will rule following His Second Coming. Also, I dont think that world governments failing will make Jesus return... just a personal opinon.
