Japan knew that Hiroshima had been bombed. They were trying to determine what type of weapon it was. Three days later, Nagasaki took a hit. It was decided that determining what type of weapon it was...was no longer important; whatever type of weapon it was, if any more were dropped (Japan didn't know that there were no more atomic bombs...at least for a few months) Japan would not exist anymore. The weapon was that powerful! So they had no choice (so they thought) and surrendered.
right after that, Japan surenders.
The first bomb dropped by the Allied Forces Doolittle Raiders was dropped on Tokyo. It had been the first time Japan had been attacked since 1000 years earlier. The Japanese were shocked at the bombs. They never dreamed the US and allies would bomb mainland Japan, much less TOKYO! This bombing mission boosted the morale of the people of the United States and the military branches of the allied forces. see link below
The last battle of WWII was the Battle for Okinawa. "IF" the two A-bombs had not been dropped on Japan, invasions into Japan would've been launched from the captured island of Okinawa.
I didn't realize that Japan had been destroyed recently, what happened exactly?
Japan surrendered to the U.S.A after two atomic bombs had been dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
if the atomic bomb had been available in 1944 it would have been used on germany not japan. the first atomic bombs were not built until july 1945, after germany had already surrendered so they were used on japan. nuclear fission in a neutron chain reaction.
Hiroshima. No nukes have been dropped on newzealand.
No. US dropped a couple of Atomic Bombs on Japan that's about it so far
the Americans dropped an atomic bomb on japan to save millions of American lives that would have been lost in the invasion of mainland japan
It was first dropped on August 6, 1945 by the United States on Hiroshima, Japan. A second one was also dropped three days later on Nagasaki, Japan. Those two bombs are credited with bringing an end to World War II less than two weeks later, with the surrender of Japan on August 15, 1945. Ironically, as devastating as they were, the dropping of those bombs may have actually saved numerous Japanese lives, as the country was preparing to dig in and defend itself in what would have been a lengthy (and likely very bloody) war of attrition.
No, only two atomic weapons have been used in war. Both were dropped on Japan.
Japan surrendered to USA because USA dropped an atomic bomb which destroyed Hiroshima in World War II. USA dropped the bomb because the Japanese dropped a bomb first in their army bay so they could not attack by sea.
