No, it was Job's wife that told him to curse God. " Job 2:9 - Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!" [NKJV]
In the book of Job in the Bible, Job's wife tells him to "curse God and die."Job 2:9 - Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!" [NKJV]
Job.
She told Job's wife to curse God and Die,and Satan wanted Job to do that all along
Is that what happened to Job?
What you are thinking of is Job and actually not Jacob i believe. His wife told him to curse God and die. I don't remember anything like this to do wih Jacob in my reading 2 God gave Satan permission to try Job's faith by inflicting upon him many trials. He lost all of his sons and all of his property. God did not give Satan permission to take Job's life. After his trials Job was rewarded ten fold.
God allowed Satan to afflict Job with various trials and hardships, but He did not permit Satan to touch Job's life. Instead, God restored Job's fortunes and blessed him even more than before, reaffirming His faithfulness and sovereignty over evil.
The book is the book of Job-pronounce"Joeb/johb" and "job" like as to where one works. in the book of Job it tells a story of a man, and in this story the Adversary,"Satan/devil" whatever one wants to call him, is talking to God and God tells the adversary to look at his servant Job, a good and righteous man of great wealth and prosperity, but Satan says that if he (Satan) can tempt Job or hurt him some how that he could get Job to curse god, so God says to Satan, go ahead. BUT you can not TAKE Job's life, so Satan takes all of job's wealth, his herds of live stock, all his wealth, everything but his wife and job stays true! At that point it is obvious that God won and Job passed this test, but then the adversary says to god, yeah ok but if you would let me inflict physical harm he would definitely curse you, so god says go ahead. This time Satan inflicts him with boils all over his body and all kinds of nastiness. Even Job's wife says, "just curse God so you can die" but Job refused to curse God.
The book of Job talks about the relationship between God and Job. It is not prophetic because job was not a prophet, the book is plainly the story of what happened to Job and his relationship with God.
