Whether the child answers 'yes' or 'no', the result is supposed to be disastrous. The correct answer for the child is to give a confusing answer, which will get rid of her or allow the child to escape.If we are supposed to believe in this sort of nonsense, then perhaps lecturing Kuchisake Onna about Jesus, or anything else that is irrelevant to the questions she asks, would surely get rid of her. Far better to treat the whole story with contempt and not encourage its circulation.
