Yes of course they did. Well some of them. Not every single Man stayed in America.
For example the older men. But there were also younger men in America through WW2.
Many men were ineligible to serve in the military- flat feet, hearing-impaired, bad vision. There was no polio injection, so there were many people who were physically impaired as a result of that, too.
There were men who were too old or too young, or who were conscientious objectors due to their religious beliefs. Some were business owners who couldn't go because there would be no one else to run the business. There were many Japanese-Americans who were placed in "detention centers" for the duration of the war.
In addition, many men worked within the boundaries of the US but for the war effort. Besides the obvious (like military training camps & recruiters) there were also cryptologists, telegraph operators, and scientists. Many people were needed in the factories, where both men and women worked. Doctors and teachers were also deemed to be playing vital roles on the homefront.
Although the population was noticeably skewed toward more women, there were many many men in the USA throughout the war.
There was no Olympics during World War 2, they were all canceled so no countries participated.

America is a large country whose people have many different opinions. Some Americans believed that America could remain neutral during World War 1, some believed that America could but should not stay neutral, and some believed that America could not stay neutral. Initially, those in favor of neutrality were the vast majority. Eventually those supporting participation in the war became a larger and larger fraction of the population, until they were so large that a declaration of war became politically possible.
