no i dont think so! i have a lot of deer on my familys ranch and none dig holes.
I don't know why they do it, but we have been watching a doe dig a hole in the ground near our campsite in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for several days. The hole is a foot or so in diameter and about six or eight inches deep. When the doe left, we looked in the hole and saw some roots, but were not sure if that is what she was after.
