Did pirates really bury their treasure Why?

Most did not, with a few exceptions. Most pirates were anxious to divide up the loot and use what they pilfered from other people's boats. And they rarely discovered gold or silver. Usually they stole food or other perishables that would have been useless, rotten, or spoiled had they buried it. William Kidd pilfered gold and silver from a boat sailing from the Far East. Kidd buried the treasure in Long Island, NY. The gold and silver were confiscated when Kidd was arrested for piracy.

No because pirates were greedie people and why bury your treasure when you can have it now and waste it on girls and rum which is what they did and then when all the money was gone they went out and stole more

There are no documented cases of pirates drawing up a map, let alone putting an 'X' on the map to mark where the treasure was hidden.

I know for a fact that pirates DID bury treasure. I figure they probably did make maps to remember where they buried it.

No, pirates did not bury treasure. After considerable thinking, you would think that pirates would have no common sense burying treasure.

Majority of them bury it because they don't want anybody get their hands on their (most likely the captain's) possessions of wealth.

people made treasure maps because they wanted someone else to find it or they found it but didn't have the right tools. :)
