In pursuit of Sam Houston's army, Santa Anna split his army into three columns. He hoped to trap the Texan army, but instead, his main force was drawn into battle at San Jacinto, and defeated in eighteen minutes. Santa Anna himself was captured.
The Battle of San Jacinto lasted only 18 minutes. Although the Texans were outnumbered, they killed 630 Mexicans and captured 700 more. The next day, they captured Santa Anna, forcing him to sign a treaty granting Texas independence.
Santa Anna attacked the Texans because he wanted the land for Mexico. He had started the Mexican revolution and wanted to expand the country.

Well at First Texans thought of Santa Anna as sly and clever. After this, they thought of Santa Anna as Cruel. This caused the "Runaway Scrape"
The Texans were defeated by Santa Anna at the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
Santa Anna was the leader of the Mexicans at the Alamo.
As with most armies through out history, the biggest problem was getting there. The Mexican Army had to march from Mexico to Texas.

The Texans pupported Santa Anna at first because he said he will be loyal to them and bring there needs to the capitol ....... and he did but later he turned bad
San Jacinto. The Texans surprised the Mexican Army, and captured its general, Santa Anna, trying to sneak away dressed in a grubby private's uniform. Santa Anna was betrayed by his silk underwear. The battlefield is preserved, near Houston.
Texas did not win at the Alamo they had already declared independence the Alamo was just a battle. They won independence by defeating Mexico at the battle of San jacinto where they captured Santa Anna
