Yes. The Chinese were at war against the Japanese in World War 2. The United States sent China war supplies by air from India. The pilots flew over the Hump or the Himalayas. The planes that flew that route were called, "The Flying Tigers." An attempt was made to build a 2,000 kilometer road from India to China through the Jungles of Burma. It was called "Stillwell's Road" after General Stillwell. Today China is paving that road and calling it "The Silk Road."
