Pizza was made by Greeks. Today it is unsure if it was Athens or Troy that made it but it is sure Trojan Hoplites would make it on their shields over a fire when they were away from the city. The Italians only made a type of pizza which had been the first cheese pizza that was inspired by China when Marco Polo returned to Naples and they called it 'neapolitan pizza'. Then Sicily invented the 'sicilian pizza' and that's when pizza became famous to the world.

∙ 13y agoThe origin of pizza goes back to the camp life of roman soldiers.
Flour was carried and they would make a quick dough and cook it next to a small fire and top it with some olive oil and what ever local herbs were on hand...along with salt. This was a non perishable staple that served them well and still does today as pizza does not require silverware,or plates and it's a "handy" type of food.
