It was called the League of Nations and was the precurser to today's United Nations. The League of Nations was the association of countries President Wilson wanted to form. Woodrow Wilson was America's 28th President.

to form peace between the nations and have a Iroquois league

It was called the League of Nations and was actually formed but the US did not join it and the league did not accomplish very much.
They formed treaties and pacts. In addition many formed the League of Nations and the United Nations, neither of which were very successful.
Actually, UN is the successor of League of Nations. After the end of the league, i.e, after the outbreak of second world war, the members thought it was better to form a new world organization rather than reforming the League. That's how UN was created, and the UN wouldn't have existed if the league had. so there's no question of UN playing ANY role in the end of the League of Nations..!!!
