No, there was no such room designated for vomiting in Roman times. There were, however, passages called "vomitoria" through which crowds would enter and exit stadiums. And it does seem, as suggested by passages from Seneca and Cicero, that vomiting was actually practiced in decadence and not too unusual. But there was no relation between the vomitoria and vomiting, it is simply a misconception based on assumptions.

∙ 12y agoNo, no, and another no! The Romans did not have a room to vomit in. If they were feeling ill, they would use a basin or some other appropriate receptacle. Yes, they did have something called a "vomitorium" but it was not a place in which to throw up. It was an exit of the Colosseum. After an event in the Colosseum, which could empty of its 50,000 plus spectators in less than fifteen minutes, the exit gates "spewed out" people so were referred to as "vomitoria". Vomitoria had nothing whatsoever to do with a room in a Roman house; the entire idea is a misconception that has stuck on the Romans for years.
