The Romans were deeply influenced by the Greeks. They adopted some of their gods and many of their myths and linked their gods to the Greek ones. They also adopted the Greek architectural styles for temples and porticoes. Their statues were modelled on those of the Greeks. Hence the term Greco-Roman art. They adopted Geek sports and the Greek gymnasium and Greek medicine. They adopted Greek siege machines and cranes. They greatly improved these cranes and the balista (a catapult). No, although the Romans were ambivalent regarding the Greeks, the Greek culture was one that they mostly admired and they absorbed many aspects of it. The Greek art works, philosophies, literature and language were all used by the Romans. On the other hand, the Romans generally looked down on the Greeks as being effeminate and double dealing.
