A:In Paul's own, more mundane account, written to those who could challenge any implausible claims that he might make, there is never any mention of the miraculous. He does not describe his conversion, but on his testimony it seems to have been a change of heart, and he simply travelled to Arabia and afterwards to Damascus.

Acts of the Apostles, written some decades after the death of Paul, provides a miraculous explanation for the conversion of Paul, with three parallel but different stories in which Jesus appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus. The heavens did not actually open up to Paul, but Acts tells us he did see a blinding light. The light appeared only to Paul in the version at Acts 9:3-8 and probably at Acts 26.13-19, but appeared to both Paul and his men at Acts 22:6-11. Paul alone heard a voice from heaven at Acts 22:6-11 and probably at Acts 26.13-19, but both Paul and his men heard the voice at Acts 9:3-8. What the three accounts do have in common is that they seem to have been based on the ancient play of Euripedes called the Bacchae. This suggests that Paul's own, more mundane account might have been the true story of his conversion and subsequent travels. Either way, he never saw the heavens open up. In Acts of the Apostles, that miracle only occurred for Stephen.

What books of the Bible did apostle Paul write?

The apostle Paul wrote the books, or letters which bear his name. The reason for certainty on this is that there were 'controls' in place to ensure accuracy of attribution. Uncertainty delayed the acceptance of a work as being of value. People who made false claims were also disciplined. Paul authored the following: Romans, I and II Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, I and II Thessalonians, I and II Timothy, Titus and Philemon. Although open to question many also have good reason to believe he also wrote Hebrews as it contains many pauline distinctives.
