There were hardly any goods that were traded because of the Crusades. All goods had already been coming from the East, albeit in smaller quantities and mostly through the Byzantine empire. The irony of history is - remembering that it was Byzantium that had first spurred on the Pope to start the Crusades in the first place - that in the end, the Crusades mainly served to destroy Byzantium's position in the East-West trade. It was their (at the time minor) competitor, the city State of Venice, that bribed Crusading forces to attack Byzantium instead of the Holy Land during the later Crusades. The Crusades did however greatly increase the demand for goods from the East, like spices and silks, and the Venetians greatly profited from this extra demand with the main competitor now gone.As to ideas: pactically all ideas and knowledge coming from the East at the time were getting through more despite the Crusades than because of them. Several historians however maintain that the most fundamental and lasting idea created by the Crusades was the concept that Christianity - until then a basically pacifist religion - was a religion that not only condoned but even enthusiastically endorsed violence and warfare in its name.
When a consumer is able and willing to buy a good or service he or she creates a demand.
