the Vietnam War.
No.
The VC used guerrilla warfare up until about '68 (TET offensive); after the VC were basically ineffective (nearly wiped out), the NVA took over the fight. The war was nearly always a conventional war when NVA units were involved. The war was always conventional over the skies of North Vietnam...between the US Air Force and Naval Air Force units.
The Vietnam War was the first war to be televised to the public. So America saw everything that was going on in Vietnam and wanted to pull out of the war.
The North Vietnam Army (NVA) and the United States.(with help from Australia and minimal help from South Vietnam)

Somewhat democratic South Vietnam was a member of the South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO), so by treaty, we were obligated to help defend South Vietnam. We entered the Vietnam War to help South Vietnam stop Communist North Vietnam from their attempts to unify the whole country.
