The land of Nod refers to the first settlement of humans in the Fertile Crescent where archaeological evidence has found bones 100,000 years older than those found in the apparent "cradle of man" in Ethiopia; Sodom and Gomorrah were two cities upon the Red Sea of the Republic of Judea having nothing to do with Nod, these were essentially cities of unimaginable debauchery in lust, bestiality, fornication, sodomy etc. The remains of the two cities were indeed found as Noah's Ark, the real Mt. Sinai, evidence for the 1st world before the flood such as underwater pyramids in Japan and grown-over pyramids in Bosnia as well as fossils indicating great water exposure covering most or all of the planet. The ruins of the site are quite degraded as a result of the sulfur rains (referred to as "raining fire" in The Bible) which cover the entire area. Physically, it seems that the sulfur did indeed fall from above, in addition, the remnants of ziggurats, building foundations and passageways can still be found and are confirmed by radio-carbon dating, lab analyses of the sulfur etc.

Ur of the chaldees is the same as sodom and gomorrah?

Gen:11:31: And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. Gen:13:10: And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Ur of the Chaldees was a city outside of Canaan where Abraham once lived with his family. Sodom and Gomorrah were cities inside of Canaan near to where Abraham lived. The cities were similar in that they were wicked, but that's about it.

Why did God burn Sodom and Gomorrah?

Because God is a loving God who is always ready to forgive, if the person repents. even if the person does not repent and always refuses, much like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, God still loves that person. He will forgive. He forgave Sodom and Gomorrah out of love. Below is a passage describing the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah:"By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities-and also the vegetation in the land." - Genesis 19: 23-25This part of the Bible below is before the destuction - Abraham and the Lord are bargaining over whether Sodom and Gomorrah will be saved if there are righteous people there:" 20 Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous 21that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."22 The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the LORD. [e] 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare [f] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing-to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge [g] of all the earth do right?"26 The LORD said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."27 Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city because of five people?""If I find forty-five there," he said, "I will not destroy it."29 Once again he spoke to him, "What if only forty are found there?"He said, "For the sake of forty, I will not do it."30 Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?"He answered, "I will not do it if I find thirty there."31 Abraham said, "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?"He said, "For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it."32 Then he said, "May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?"He answered, "For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it." "- Genesis 18: 20-32

What were the reasons everyone in Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed?

Genesis (13:13)"The men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly."This verse doesn't say what the Sodomites did to make them such exceedingly great sinners, though most bible believers equate "Sodomite" with homosexual. (But see Ezekiel 16:49, which claims the sins of Sodom were pride, gluttony, sloth, greed, and failure to help the poor.)AnswerThe people of Sodom and Gomorrah engaged in depraved homosexual acts. God sent angels to the city of Sodom to see how bad things were: "Then the Lord said to Abraham, 'There are terrible accusations against Sodom and Gomorrah, and their sin is very great. I must go down to find out whether or not the accusations which I have heard are true.' (Genesis 18:20-21). On arriving in Sodom, the angels were met by Abraham's nephew Lot. Knowing the men of the city were sexual deviants, Lot urged these two visitors to stay at his home: "He kept urging them, and finally they went with him to his house. Lot ordered his servants to bake some bread and prepare a fine meal for the guests. When it was ready, they ate it." (Genesis 19:3). The magnitude of how sinful the men of Sodom and Gomorrah were is seen by their blatant disregard for committing a shocking act upon two men they didn't know: "Before the guests went to bed, the men of Sodom surrounded the house. All the men of the city, both young and old, were there. They called out to Lot and asked, 'Where are the men who came to stay with you tonight? Bring them out to us!' The men of Sodom wanted to have "sex" with them." (Genesis 19:4-5). Since it is only possible for a man and a woman to have sexual intercourse, the term used for two men engaging in a homosexual act is Sodomy, which derives from the word Sodom. The angels helped Lot, his wife and his two daughters out of the city, then God burned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. All who remained there were burned to death: "Suddenly the Lord rained burning sulphur on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and destroyed them and the whole valley, along with all the people there and everything that grew on the land." (Genesis 19:24-25). Homosexuality is as much a sin today as it was back then. God decreed a law against the abhorrent act: "If a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a digusting thing, and both shall be put to death. They are responsible for their own death." (Leviticus 20:13). Scriptures taken from the 'Sunrise Good News Bible.'Gommorah in parsi which is driven from sanskrit(ver ancient) means people who have lost their path, obviusly in ths case meaning the paht of righteousness. You should also not the passages that refer to Sodom in Jude 1:7. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Who is lot?

Lot was Abraham's nephew(Genesis 11:27) who traveled with Abraham through the wilderness, finally choosing to live in the fertile farmland of Sodom and Gomorrah(Genesis 13:5-12), from which he had to flee for his life as God destroyed the godless inhabitants of that land(Genesis 19:12-26). Lot became the 'father' of the Moabite and the Ammonite nations.

Why did abram and lot part company?

Abram and his nephew Lot separated because the land wasn't fertile/big enough to sustain all of their livestock (they were both pretty wealthy). Lot went to Sodom and Gomorrah, but he escaped with his two daughters to a place called Zoar before it was destroyed.. If you wish, you can read more about the separation in Genesis chapter 13, and Lot's escape starting in Genesis chapter 18 (to get the context). Hope this helps.

Were the people of Sodom and Gomorrah Canaanites?

Sodom and Gommorrah are cities that appear to be placed in the desert on the eastern side of the Jordan River. If the cities really existed, their inhabitants would not have been Canaanites, as the Canaanites lived on the rich coastal area of Palestine.Genesis 13:10-12: "And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. "Details available regarding the nationality of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah indicates they were indeed Canaanites:Genesis 10:19-2019And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.20These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.Further, in relation to the Bible record it is worth noting that the land which the Israeilites were to inherit was referred to in terms of the major Canaanite tribes which inhabited it:Exodus 3:1717And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey. It needs to be understood that it is likely that the entire land known as Canaan was inhabited by one Canaanite tribe or another. Canaan, the son of Ham, son of Noah, is recorded as having eleven sons and an unknown number of daughters. All of the particular tribes or nations mentioned above were Canaanites. So, even though it is certainly true that there is a reference to the fact that 'the Canaanites' dwelt in the plain (a reference to the coastal plain) it is also true that the tribes who had a different name were themselves also Canaanites. The verses below give the details of the different Canaanite tribes descended from Canaan, son of Ham:Genesis 10:15-1815And Canaan begat Sidon his first born, and Heth,16And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,17And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,18And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad. What appears likely therefore, in the light of the clear statement from Genesis 10:19-20 was that Sodom and Gomorrah, together with the other 'cities of the plain' were part of the easternmost extent of the Canaanite territory at that time in history. It is also relevant to note that the location of a particular group of people outside of the actual 'land of Canaan' bounded by the Jordan River in the East and the Mediterranean Sea in the West, has no relevance whatsoever to the ethnicity of the people here discussed. The term "Canaanite" in Biblical usage, refers not to 'people who dwelt in Canaan' but to people who were descendants of the man Canaan, as mentioned above. Otherwise, the Israelites, would themselves have been Canaanites once they entered the land, a proposition which is indeed absurd. Thus references to where Abram and where Lot dwelt and the location of Sodom and Gomorrah have no bearing whatsoever on the ethnicity of the persons contained in those cities. Similarly, many people who dwell in Quebec are of French extraction ethnically, even though they live in Canada, in mainland North America. Their location thus does not determine their ethnicity either.
