∙ 9y agoPope Pius XII did more than any individual, country or organization to try to protect the Jews from Nazi atrocities. He did publicly denounce the Nazis but quickly found that the more he publicly denounced them, the more they increased their atrocities. He chose to continue his work is the shadows.
However, many western governments, the United States included, chose to remain silent about the situation and became, in a way, complicit in the Holocaust by their conspiracy of silence.
