The term "you all" (2nd person plural) may have been shortened to "y'all" much earlier in English, notably from the Scots-Irish term ye aw.

But it has maintained its form in the dialects of the Southern and later the Western US. It is not limited to Texas, but occurs across the region, including the highly-accented version found in Georgia. It is also seen in some West Indies dialects.
