Not officially. Special operations units at times might use them if they deem fit to do so, but it has never been an official weapon of the US Army. The Marines do have Maadi Misrs (Egyptian variant of the AKM), but again, those would be used by special operations personnel only as the situation requires it. Now in Iraq there were times we would employ captured AKMs/Type 56s/etc., but that was a heat of the moment thing, typically, and we'd revert to our issued weapons once we were resupplied with ammo, or expended all the ammo from the AKs.
You failed to specify which specific military you had in mind. The original AK-47, with the milled receiver, ceased production in 1959, and was replaced by the AKM, which used a stamped receiver. In many instances, AKM rifles or variants thereof are referred to as AK-47s. As for the original AK-47 rifle, it's a bit unlikely - but not impossible - that you'd find many still in service. However, the Kalashnikov family of rifles (including variants thereof) still remain in widespread use throughout the world.
Officially, probably not. But, if a US soldier was on a battlefield and ran out of rounds for his rifle, but there were plenty of AK-47 rifles and rounds on the ground (from the enemy), I am sure that US servicemen would not hesitate to pick one up and use it to complete their mission.
No. The AK47/AKM use the 7.62x39 M1943 cartridge. The ammo used by the AK74 is 5.45x39.5.
Yes, & it still is as long as your local laws allow it.
They're BOTH historical weapons, first clashing against each other in the Vietnam War (the world was introduced to them during this war) If the operations are the same, then the person simply picks one based upon his likes. For the same reason one chooses a car, which one does he like the looks of? For historical purposes, the M16 was originally fielded by US forces in Vietnam as strictly a "jungle rifle", while the rest of the US forces world wide retained the use of the standard US Rifle, M14. The Communist AK47 was fielded as a general purpose weapon for use in Europe & Eurasia.
The Ak-47 is not a weapon issued by the US Army for its combat units. However since it is often found on battlefields around the world, US army troops are often trained in in how to use it.
Tripoli is identified as present day Libya, It is certainly the smallest military engagement mentioned in the Marine's Hymn and in Marine Corp History. Its importance exists only in American Military Histiry as the first use of US military forces overseas, the first US overseas victory, the first use of an envelopment against a foreign power outside of the Continental US, the first use of Ranger forces against overseas forces, the first use of mercenary forces against an enemy of the US and the first Special Forces operation by US forces.
A transferable AK47 would be in the 10-25K range.
no
The M16A1 is no longer used by any branches or special operation forces in the US Military. The M16A3, however, is used by some units in the US Air Force, particularly security forces. It is not the standard-issue rifle for any branch or special forces.

Congress authorized the President to use force to protect US interests. That meant he could now use US regular ground forces.
US armed forces are clearly more trained such as the US navy SEALs
