No. It is a peculiarity of the US government that they do not annex Another Country after a conflict. It is the US belief that other nations are just that..other nations. When the US occupies another nation, it is for the express purpose of resolving a conflict. Just as the conflict in Grenada, Vietnam. and Iraq, the US will occupy the nation for the express purpose of helping to topple an existing regime..not to annex the country.
In the years following World War II, the US was actively engaged in rebuilding the occupied countries, particularly Germany and Italy. Since these were the defeated countries in that war, they were particularly ravaged. American forces occupied the territory, insured stable government and then withdrew.
In the case of Germany, there were other forces involved, particularly the Soviet Union who did make a land grab. The US actions there insured that eventually...many years later..Germany would still have a peculiar government of it's own which was evident by the success of West Germany.
