Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, is madeof molecules containing one methyl group, with a chemical structure of CH3-OH. Methanol is highly toxic if inhaled, drunk, or absorbed through the skin and can cause blindness. Ethyl alcohol is the same as ethanol or grain alcohol. I has two methyl groups and looks like CH3-CH3-OH. This is the type of alcohol found in the alcoholic beverages people consume. Both compounds are organic and are good solvents and fixatives.

Ethyl alcohol (C3C2OH) known as ethanol in the IUPAC nomenclature is called grain alcohol as it is traditionally produced for distillation to pure alcohol by the fermentation of grain derived sugars.

The name separates it from methyl alcohol (C3OH) called methanol which is derived from the fermentation of cellulose as is sometimes called wood alcohol.

How methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol?

First we have to know the difference between methyl and ethyl and alcohol groups: A methyl group chemical formula is CH3- , of an ethyl group it is C2H5- , and alcohol group means the group contains -OH So methyl alcohol is methanol, CH3OH, and ethyl alcohol is ethanol, CH3CH2OH.

Which shows maximum hydrogen bonding with wate.is it methyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol?

Methyl alcohol

What are kinds of alcohols?

There are three types of alcohols, ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol and methyl alcohol. Ethyl alcohol is the type that is consumed.

What do you mean by transestrification?

Transesterification is used in the production of bio-diesels and polyesters. It means interesterification. For better clarification, there is a reaction between an ester of one alcohol and a second alcohol to form an ester of the second alcohol. The alcohol from the original ester as that of methyl acetate and ethyl alcohol turn to form ethyl acetate and methyl alcohol.

What is the solute in 60.0 mL of ethyl alcohol and 30.0 mL of methyl alcohol?

In this case the solute is methyl alcohol and solvent is ethyl alcohol. When two liquids mix, they are not usually referred to as "soluble", but rather are referred to as "miscible".

Are Methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol miscible?

Yes, they're miscible in every ratio

What is the type of solution of denatured and alcohol?

There are different formulations for denaturing ethyl alcohol. One such formulation adds isopropyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone and denatonium benzoate to the ethyl alcohol to make it unpalatable.

Is the test of ethyl and methyl alcohol conclusive?

The test of ethyl and methyl alcohol may provide some evidence, but it is not necessarily conclusive. Further analysis and testing could be needed to confirm the presence and differentiate between the two types of alcohol definitively.

What degree Fahrenheit does alcohol boil at?

Ethyl alcohol boils at 172.4, methyl alcohol boils at 151.

How can a mixture of methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol be separated?

By distillation, though 100% pure is not attainable.

Which substance is added for the denaturation of ethyl alcohol unfit for drinking?

Many different denaturing methods have been used. The most common is adding methanol (methyl/wood alcohol). Other common additives are acetone, methyl ethyl ketone and methyl isobutyl keytone.
