SOmatic cell are Any cell of a plant or an animal other than a germ cell. Also called body cell. Reproductive cell A reproductive cell having the haploid number of chromosomes, especially a mature sperm or egg capable of fusing with a gamete of the opposite sex to produce the fertilized egg.

They both have DNA in the form of chromosomes, they both contain the same genetic material (if they are in the same organism) and they both have similar structures (such as the cell membrane).

Somatic cell division is called mitosis. That is where a cell doubles its chromosomes and then splits to form two cells with the same number of chromosomes as the original.

Reproductive cell division is called meiosis. It starts where a cell doubles. But then it splits into 4 cells for sperm cells, or a single cell where 3/4 of it dies for ova cells. Either way, the resulting cells have half the DNA as the original. To gain the correct number of cells and start new life, a cell of each type has to come together.

The difference is in the number of chromosomes. Reproductive cells have 23 chromosomes while somatic cells have 46, that is, 23 pairs.

What are somatic cells Short answer please?

Somatic cells are all the cells that make up an organism except for germ cells.

If an organism has 24 somatic cells how many will there be after mitosis?

48

This is any cell in a living organism that is not part of reproduction?

Somatic cells are any cells in a living organism that are not part of reproduction.

What do somatic cells include?

Body cells. This distinguishes them from sex cells, gametes.

How do diploid somatic cells and haploid gametes organism reproduce?

ribosomes

What is somatic cells?

The word "somatic" is derived from the Greek word soma, meaning "body". Hence, all body cells of an organism - apart from the sperm and egg cells, the cells from which they arise (gametocytes) and undifferentiated stem cells - are somatic cells.

Define somatic cells?

The definition of somatic cells is any cell, with the exception of reproductive cells of eggs and sperm, in a living organism. Somatic cells are diploid cells that compose the organs and tissues.

How many chromosomes are in a normal persons somatic cell?

In humans there are 46 chromosomes that are split into 23 pairs in the somatic cells. Somatic cells forms the body of an organism.

Are gamete cells mutations and somatic cells mutations inheritable?

Since only gamete cells actually participate in the creation of a new organism, it is only the mutations in gamete cells which are inheritable; mutations in somatic cells are not inheritable.

Why is all of your DNA in all somatic cells?

Somatic cells are all the cells in an organism's body except for the gametes. Certain somatic cells may have different functions in an organism due to differences in gene expression; which simply mean that somatic cells only use certain parts of the DNA. Therefore, all somatic cells have the same DNA. When these cells develop, they will specialize into certain types of cells depending on which genes will turn "on."

What is the characteristic number of chromosomes in human somatic cells?

In human, somatic cells are the cells that make up the body parts of an individual, other than the germ cells. They contain 46 chromosomes organized into 23 pairs.

What are non-sex cells categorized as?

if you mean asexual then that is a cell that does not need a partner to reproduce. This is usually a single celled organism that reproduces by having the cell split in two and form into two different cells
