The LANs themselves are no different depending on the number of hops. The number of hops to get to another LAN is based on the number of other routers the packet must pass through to get there. The LANs don't care about the difference between a single and a multiple hop.

What are computer lands?

You most likely mean "LANs". LAN stands for Local Area Network. A LAN establishes communication between two or more computers at a "location". A location could be a business or a home but is normally a single geographic location. The protocols in the LAN will be designed to allow the computers at the location to communicate, but basically ignore requests to communicate with other computers outside the 'location'. A counterpart to the LAN is the Wide Area Network or WAN. A wide area network will join two or more LANs together.

What hardware devices do LANS use?

Network cards are used to connect a personal computer to a LAN. A computer with a network card can be a network participant.Hubs are used to connect participants (PCs and other LAN devices).Bridges are used to connect parts of LAN with each other. Possibly because they operate on a different medium (copper wire, glass fibre).Routers are used to connect networks with each other (LANs with other LANs; LANs with the internet, etc.)Switches are a mix between Hub and Bridge.
