I think you need to look at your function keys and see which one is for changing your display mode. On mine it is F8. under F8 it says CRT/LCD but it might just be a picture of a monitor. Press the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) and the F8 (or whatever F number it is on yours) at the same time. You need to give it a short while, and you may need to do this more than once. You should be able to chose from laptop screen only, projector only, and laptop and projector simultaneously. I am no computer expert but this is what generally works for me.
Press the function key that will redirect the video output to the external monitor.
A Data Projector (referred to as Digital Projector) is a projector that gets its image from a Digital Source, such as VGA (computer), RCA (the most common A/V input), S-Video (another form of video input), and some others. These projectors are most commonly used along with DLP or LCD Technology. An Overhead Projector is an older style of projection, common in Education (Schools). These projectors are totally manual and require you to put a transparent image onto glass to project the image overhead.
It depends on video card. If you don't have DVI slot then you will have to get a female VGA to male DVI adaptor. the DvI would then go to M1 and connect at projector.

An overhead projector is used to project an image of a transparency onto a wall or screen by means of an overhead mirror. There are also "slide projectors" that are used to display photographic slides on a wall or screen. A "projector" or "digital projector" would be used similar to a computer monitor or a television screen that would display an inputted image from a variety of sources (blu-ray player, computer, laptop, dvd players, game console, etc.). In the case of a projector the image is projected with the help of a light apparatus shining through a small silicon ship and projected through a lens to create an image on your wall or projector screen.

The 430EX external flash seems like it would be the best candidate for the external flash for the Canon digital camera.
Digital projection is using digital means to project an image, as opposed to analog film. Different technologies are available for consumer digital projection (LCD, DLP) each with their own separate advantages and disadvantages. Many movie theaters now are equipped with a 4K digital cinema projector, which in many cases is far superior, but similar to a consumer level projector.
