The main disadvantage of OS X is it's incompatibility with windows. But, this is getting much better now, with integration with Microsoft Exchange and certain software, such as CrossOver, which allows you to install most windows programs on mac OSX.
OS X has no disadvantages. It can do everything windows can. And more.
Snow Leopard (10.6) is an all around refinement of Mac OS X Leopard (10.5), so a disadvantage may be that you're buying an upgrade for $25 without getting a whole lot of major new features. One downside is that it is made for Intel only, so old Macs won't run it. Also, since it is 64-bit, it requires at least 1 GB of RAM.
If you happen to have an old applescript printer, it also won't work. As well as many graphics printers and networked copiers (simply picking a PPD does not necessarily work, anymore).
Finally, there are a handful of older programs that do not yet work (updates are needed), and other ones updates exist but the older versions of the program may no longer work. Nevertheless, this upgrade has kept far more application compatibility compared to previous upgrades.
A Mac OS X can't play some of the games that a P.C can and instead of clicking the red exit button to quit a program, you have to click file then quit. Or you can hit command q. I have a Mac OS X and I prefer it than a P.C but if you are the type of person that likes to play games from a CD ROM then a P.C might be a better choice.
None except for there are less games for the mac OS compared to the windows operating system
