There is two ways to get to Al Ain from Abu Dhabi. There is what's known as the 'truck road' which, as stated above, is not an advisable route! I have done 3 trips to Al Ain now and thoroughly enjoy the roughly two hours drive. I leave the city on airport road, drive past the Dubai exit, and follow all signs to Al Ain.
