Can you run 4 70w speakers on a 150w amp or will it blow?

It's entirely possible to use four 70W speakers with a 150W amplifier but the method will depend on the speakers and the amplifier specification. We will assume that the amplifier will deliver up to 150W per channel, so two speakers will be used on each channel. If the amplifier is rated to drive a 4 ohm load, then two 8 ohm speakers can be wired in parallel and connected. In this instance, take care NOT to drive the amplifier too hard. It will overdrive the speakers at about the same time that it will begin to show a distorted output. This is a condition that can easily damage speakers so be very conservative with the volume control. If the speakers are 4 ohm speakers, they can be wired in series to provide a total impedance of 8 ohms. If the amplifier is rated to deliver 150W into 4 ohms, then the total power to the speakers will be lower than to a single speaker. The benefit is that no speaker can be over-driven and there is a good amount of headroom for safety.

What exactly is a combo amp and how is it different from a normal guitar amplifier?

A combo amplifier for a guitar contains a normal guitar amplifier and one to four speakers. A normal guitar amplifier does not contain speakers, but is able to send the signal to a speaker cabinet.

What size audio amplifier will you need to buy to power four 60 watts speakers 8 ohms impedance Frequency Response 120 Hz - 20 kHz?

There are several ways to drive four speakers. For simplicity, this answer assumes that the amplifier will be a two channel stereo amplifier - one channel for left and one for right hand channels. It also assumes that the speakers will be connected in parallel, that is, both positive terminals wired together and both negative terminals together. The two speakers together will be the equivalent of a four ohm speaker. First, make sure the amplifier is rated to drive four ohms to both the left and the right speaker. Most amplifiers will handle a four ohm load but some are aonly designed for eight ohms. The manual will tell you what the amplifier can handle. The speakers can handle up to 120 Watts per channel when two are used together. To fully drive the speakers, an amplifier of 120W per channel will be needed. However, that is the worst possible size of amplifier to use if you are going to run the system near its peak power output. Here's why: Speakers are able to cope much more power than their rated power. The sound will be terrible but generally, the speakers will not be damaged. Speakers can also cope with a distorted signal from an amplifier as long as the power level is a lot less than the rated speaker power. However, overdrive the amplifier when it is delivering the full power rating of the speaker and the high power distortion is very likely to cause damage to the speaker. The choice of amplifier should either be higher or lower than the speaker rating. A 30W per channel amplifier will still have a great deal of power to offer and the output will be far louder than most people would ever want in a living room. If the amplifier is over-driven, the low power level avoid speaker damage. A 200W per channel amplifier will drive the speakers harder but with a clean signal. If you want to run the speakers close to their maximum level, choose an amplifier of this power output or higher. A note about power levels: True power output is always measured as an RMS figure. Music power is approximately twice RMS power and peak music power is about twice the level of music power. Therefore, if the speakers are rated at 60W peak music power, they actually have a rating of just 15 Watts RMS. When comparing amplifiers and speakers, always make sure you use the same units, RMS, Music or Peak Music. Never mix them.

Can you wire four eight ohm speakers to four ohms?

I presume you mean wired to four ohms amplifier output: In this case, pair the two speakers in in series which will make the give you 18 Ohms and then join the two pairs in parallel which will result in approximately eight ohms. Then connect then in that format to the amplifier. It will work for you.

What important factors should I consider when buying an amplifier for my car?

There are a bunch of important factors to consider prior to buying an amplifier for a vehicle. Primarily, you must decide what the amplifier will be primarily used for. If the amplifier will be used for powering subwoofers it would be good to consider the bridged or mono capabilities as well as ohm ratings of the amplifier as well as the draw, or amount of power the amplifier will pull from the car's electrical system. The most important factor in considering an amplifier for powering subwoofers is probably output watts, which will determine the amplifier's power to the speakers and the amount of bass to be transmitted. If the amplifier is to be used to power mid or high range speakers, a multi channel (four or more) amplifier should be considered because of the ability to run multiple sets of speakers or component sets off of the different channels of the amplifier. The considerations inherent to the subwoofer amplifier are also present including watt ouput and power draw, but when selecting a multi cha

Which speakers will work best with my new 4 channel amp?

All speakers will work with a typical four channel amp, though you may want to check the wattage before you pair it with some speakers.

Where can one find a 4 channel car amplifier?

One can find a four channel car amplifier from many different stores. These stores include Best Buy, Walmart, K-Mart, or any store that sells electronics.

Can I safely run 4 x 4ohm speakers with an 8 ohm rated amplifier?

Not really. The only possible configurations of four 4 ohm speakers is 1 ohm, 4 ohms, and 16 ohms. This will not match an 8 ohm rated amplifier. It will work, but you will not achieve rated power output, and you run the risk of damaging the amplifier.

Can you wire a 6 speaker car stereo into a 4 channel amplifier?

Yes but you will have to combine four of your speakers into 2 channels. 2 fronts and 4 rears, or 4 fronts and 2 rears. There's always the option of a 6 channel amp, but be cautious because your head unit may not have 6 preouts, so you will be doing the same as what i previously stated.

Where can you find a diagram for a 95' Lincoln Continental factory stareo system?

If you are trying to put in a new stereo I have your answer. The 96 continental that i have ( i am assuming that yours being a year older is the same) came with a factory amplifier. Thus, the stereo head unit is wired directly this amplifier ( unlike standard stereos which have speakers directly wired to the head unit. This amplifier is located in the trunk, you must remove the top panel in the trunk closest to the back seats to acess it. From the amplifier the wires run to the four door panel speakers. Once you acess this amplifier you can proceed with any modifications that you wish to make. mkelly12@ramapo.edu

Can resistance be added to speakers to make a 4 ohm speaker have an 8 ohm load?

You "can" add a four ohm resistor in series with a four ohm speaker, and make it look like an eight ohm speaker, however, the frequency response will not be the same. It is better to use to correct speaker for the amplifier, or use two four ohm speakers in parallel. That resistors power rating must exceed the rating of the speaker. Half the from the amplifier will go to the speaker, while half will go to the resistor, making it get quite hot.

What size are the speakers in a 98 Tahoe?

I am not sure of the size of the tweeters in the front doors, but all four doors have a 6.5" speaker in them, and there are a pair of 4x10 speakers in the roof all the way at the rear. ( they look a little like patches in the headliner) Also note, the small box under the driver's seat is actually an amplifier for the speakers in the two rear doors.
