Not EXACTLY the same, no. The distances are too great, and so the Australians and Welsh find it difficult to borrow clothing from one another.
Also, the climate is very different, I doubt you would see a welsh man in thongs (flip flops), stubbies (very short shorts) and a wifebeater (singlet) as it would simply be too cold and impractical.
Oh, sure. These days, most Australians will dress just like anyone else living in the same climate zone.

Well, the Mabinogion or Mabinogi aren't a people. The Mabiniogion are the most famous Welsh Celtic stories, dating back several hundred years. If the question is actually "Are the Welsh the same as Britons" then the people who became Welsh (the Celts) were probably the original Britons.
