The main reason one battery will last longer than another is simply a matter of materials used in the construction, and the chemicals used in the electrolyte. For instance, you have carbon batteries, lithium batteries, metal hydride, Mercury, lead-acid and who knows what else out there on the market, and some will lend themselves better to one application over another. Also it has a carbonhydrate that makes it last longer.
At the same time, I wouldn't believe everything you see and hear in the TV commercials, either. The application for which the battery is being used also plays an important factor, as well as the manufacturing processes. It's been my experience that sometimes, the lesser expensive battery will provide the best performance in the long run. The only thing you can do is experiment a bit to see which is best for your particular application.
Consumer's Union has tested alkaline batteries on several occasions. They have determined that all name-brand alkaline batteries have about equal life expectancy. Lithium batteries last longer, but are much more expensive. Between Duracell and Sony, I doubt you would detect much difference in life with equal usage.
Duracell work way better i did an experiment on it and Duracell lasted longer than Panasonic
In my personal experience, they have always lasted longer that Energizer and other brands I have tried. They use Duracell batteries in the transplant of artificial organs simply because they are known for their lasting duration.
Guinness world record confirmed that Panasonic's EVOLTA AA batteries are the longest lasting.
Rechargable batteries will not last as long as normal AA's, but, of course, can be recharged, and should last over a year.

Duracell rechargeable batteries are reliable, but like any brand of batteries, the life will depend on how the batteries are used, maintained, and stored. Rechargeable batteries do not have as long a shelf life as most other batteries, so they do have to be maintained. With proper care the Duracell rechargeable batteries will give you many hours of camera use, but it is always wise to carry extras.
please test it by some defined flashlight, like maglite, imalent, fenix.
Which brand of AA batteries lasts the longest
EverReady batteries are one of the reliable brands of batteries available. In tests however, Duracell batteries have proven to last longer than most other brands; therefore making them more expensive batteries.
Panasonic Batteries High quality basic, zinc and rechargable batteries. Panasonic EVOLTA NEO batteries have the longest life expectancy throughout the entire existence of Panasonic batteries. Superior execution, more prominent life expectancy and more secure batteries - that is the thing that we ensure with the EVOLTA NEO batteries.
15 hours....................
i depends on the toy
No set answer to that, it depends on the size/capacity of the batteries and what they're powering.
