The Philippines were, prior to the Spanish-American War - a Spanish colony. As such they observed modified Spanish customs, religious and otherwise. there is no St. Nicholas in Spanish pantheon- for lack of a better word- look at all of the towns in California named after saints- nothing even close to Nicholas- they don"t use the nam e. Interestingly the Three Kings- Epiphany, is more popular with Spanish speaking kids as a juvenile holiday- gifts exchanging and so on. Maybe the Oriental triumvirate has nudged Santa Claus off stage! so it goes. His costume would not be practical in tropical Phiippines jungles.
