Yes, the GameCube controller will work for the Nintendo Wii. Since the Wii can play GameCube games, it requires the use of the GameCube controller and Wii controllers will not work for GameCube games.Also, some Wii games such as Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl also are compatible with GameCube controllers.

Just go to the stage called Shadow Moses Island.Then press the taunt button with a gamecube controler.(Note) it will work better if on practice.

It depends on which version of the Wii you have. The original version, that is meant to be stood up, supports Gamecube games and controllers. However, the newer Wii that is meant to be sat down does not. I'm not talking about the Wii U (which also doesn't play Gamecube games) but just the newer version of the Wii.
