it's a chain, not a belt
Yes, almost all 4 cylinder engines are interfering engines, a friend of mine (mechanic for 35 years) told me anything with a timing belt is interfering, and anything with a chain is not
you need to pull your timing belt set your cams to zero they have timing marks and crank your engine to tdc and put your timing belt back on make sure everthing is at zero or you will not be able to get your timing right by moving your distributer.
Belt, replace every 100,000 miles.Belt, replace every 100,000 miles.
If your eng VG 33E will use belt . Eng VQ 35 DE use chain . But look in your engine . if the cover is plastic than your belt timing . If your engine cover by metal than you have a chain timing
There were not any timing belts in 1966. The timing should be set at 4 degrees before top dead center. With the base timing, the centrifical and vacuum advance all together should be 35 degrees.
About $135. Your question used the term, "timing CHAIN", instead of, timing BELT. My changeout of all those items included the following approximate costs: Timing BELT: $40 Water pump: $35 Hoses: $35 Accessory Belts: $15 Oil change/filter: $10 I bought all parts at a parts store about a year ago. I spent more than this because the timing belt adjuster looked like it should be changed also. I was at 100,000 miles and took the head off and let a shop (NAPA) rework the head. The compression is much better (162 for all cylinders) and it runs like new. With taps for the head and other items, I spent $440 dollars to do the whole thing. Since the Timing Belt had to come off to do the water pump, I replaced it while I was doing the Timing Belt.
Yes there is a cam belt, and aux belt on this engine. If your handy with spanners can get the am belt kit for about £140 notes. And aux belt is about £15 quid depends if you need tensioner then chepest about £35 quid. £200 all in and a nice sunny day tinkering under the bonnet :)
