My personal opinion about firewalls is that you can't have enough of them just as long as they run smoothly. I don't trust much that comes from Windows and the reason I say this is that if Windows Products are that good why do I have a new computer with Windows XP Pro on it and more than 140 updates in less than a month? Avast. com offers a free anti virus and firewall with it. Windows Live One Care won't run with Avast, but and since I have both, I'll take Avast anyday to anything that comes from windows and hopefully you can answer this question. Why do you only have SP 1 The service packs go as high as 5 or 6. Why bother with SP 1?
Of many popular antivirus and firewall software, Windows 8 ranked fifth.
Great firewall software would include zonealarm or webroot. Even the windows firewall included with Windows XP SP2 and beyond should do the trick. And remember that if you have a router it also has a hardware firewall in it.
No as no software is compulsory
Most likely it is because your antivirus software has a firewall withch is blocking it, or the built in windows firewall is blocking it
Definitely! Opera is secure software and in order to be used to its full capabilities nothing should be blocked by Windows Firewall (or any other components of Windows).
The free version does not contain a firewall but you can use your windows firewall with it. You have to buy the full version if you want a firewall with the software. I found that Norton 360 is the best for me.
The Firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network, and then either blocks it or allows it to pass through to your computer, depending on your firewall settings.
A firewall is a combination of software and hardware that helps prevent unauthorized access to a system through the Internet. Modern Windows OS's feature an inbuilt firewall.
depends on the software you are using for the firewall. if your using windows xp firewall just disable it. start-->control panel-->firewall then click the opt button to turn it off. This is not a detailed enough answer neither does it work.
Yes it will. Windows 7 has stuff in it to help.
It is perfectly acceptable to run both at the same time. I do at home, and have never had a problem myself. -- There is no problem in using both, but Windows Firewall is superflous when you have got a Router with an integrated Firewall. They both do the same thing - block malicious INCOMING requests. The problem is that any OUTGOING traffic is considered safe and that is a security issue you might want to address by installing a third party software firewall and disabling Windows Firewall (running two software firewalls on the same machine could cause conflicts).
Windows 98 does not include a firewall.
