Generally Italians "stayed with their own" so to speak. Historically, Italians tend to be slightly on the racist side. I'm not putting down the culture, I am half Italian/Sicilian so I can speak of my cultures history. SicilIans' are known as the "blacks of Italy" and why mainland Italians are not fond of Sicilians. It's rather dumb. However, throughout history Sicily was invaded by the Moors of Northern Africa and along with the invasion there was a lot of raping of Italian women by the Moors. Sicilians are known to have more of an olive complexion and dark eyes, compared to mainland Italians who can have blonde hair, blue eyes and fairer complexions. So because of the history, that's why Italians tend to not approve of interracial relations. Not saying that some Italians aren't into interracial relationships, but historically it wasn't allowed. Children were disowned from their families and it was viewed as an embarrassment.
