Catholics describe God in words, mostly using His own Words in the Sacred Scripture. God the Son is often represented in images, as He took on a human body so He is and will always remain human. God the Father and God the Son, do not now, and never will be anything other than pure Spirit so any image would be blasphemous.
Protestants, Jews and Muslims generally do not use images in worship.

There are a number of words in Hebrew used for God, chief among them is Adonai. Other Hebrew words used for God include: Eloheynu, El Shaddai, and Eloheem. The Tanach (Jewish Bible) has 72 names for HaShem, however, they're not actually names but closer to titles that describe Him according to situational context. In daily conversation, most Jews use the name HaShem.
