If the Lutheran feels comfortable making the Sign of the Cross in a Catholic Church there is nothing to prevent it. In fact, it would be encouraged.
If you make a mistake in namaaz (prayer), you can rectify it by performing two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) at the end of your prayer. These prostrations are a way to seek forgiveness and make up for any errors or omissions made during the prayer. After completing the prostrations, your prayer will be considered valid.

A Priest can bless an article (like a cross) just by using Holy Water and reciting a simple prayer that he made up himself. They can follow a same prayer through their own personal tradition, or make one up for the situation.

After making the Sign of the Cross, you say the Apostle's Creed, then the Our Father, then three Hail Marys (asking for an increase in the cardinal virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love), and finally, a Glory Be to the Father. Then you begin to pray the decades.
If the Muslim really beleives that he's in front of Allah and makes a perfect prayer, it will absolutely make him a better person
