If it is a manual transmission, then it is on the front of the transmission. It is one of the two electical connectors on the transmission. The other is the vehicle speed sensor on the backside of the transmission.

If it has the Mitsubishi 3L engine, it is under the air cleaner where the shifter goes into the transmission. I don't know about the other engines.
If you have an automatic transmission, make sure your car is in park. If you have a manual transmission, make sure its in neutral. Other than that you may need a new ignition switch.
drain the transmission fluid drop the pan an you should see it. if not drop the next component in line an itll be there. reassemble replace fluid. DONT get any dirt on anything an DONT drop or bend anything. other wise your transmission wont work right if at all
