Actually, they do. The Mega Drive (or Genesis if you live in the USA) is backwards compatable. Originally, Sega released the Power Base converter in all regions. This is essentially an extention to the toploader that allows for a Master System-shaped cartridge to be attached. It's called the Mega Adapter in Japan and the Master System Converter in Europe. There is a second model for the Mega Drive MkII, but this is rarer and was only released in Europe. Some games may not work with the regular controler, so it may be necessary to switch to a Master System controler. But don't worry, they use the same ports. There is one game that doesn't work on the Mega Drive: F-16 Fighting Falcon.
No. Genesis games only work in Genesis machines, Master System games only work for their intended consoles and same thing with Game Gear games. Needless to say, Dreamcast games only work on Dreamcast.
No. Sega Genesis games can only be played on a Sega Genesis or Sega Nomad, and some other consoles with Genesis compatibility.
Yes you can, but you need the ones made specifically for the master system/genesis model 1.
Yes but you need a adaptor called the Gear Master
The Sega Genesis/Megadrive version is way better than the master system version. But you could still get both to experience the different play-styles.
yes
Sega Master System was created in 1986.
people commonly refer to the "Nintendo Entertainment System", Nintendo's first video game system as the NES. The Sega Genesis was Sega's second video game system (second outside of Japan anyway) following the Sega Master System.
You will probably have to hack it.
Genesis, Saturn failed But Sega Saturn had 18X games in Japan.
The Sega Genesis Model 2 is just a compacter (smaller) version of the Sega Genesis. So yes it can Lets say it like this : Sega Genesis (phat) = model 1 and The Sega Genesis (slim) = model 2 Hope i helped
No, you cannot ! Directly from the Sega Saturn manual: "You cannot use Genesis, Sega CD, or Genesis 32X games or peripheral equipment with your Sega Saturn."
