A Siamese fighting fish/betta? Yes! They cannot survive in salt water.
They need a 5+ Gallon tank and you can only have one in the same tank.

Well beta or Siamese fighting fish have no gills so they surface breathe ..
Siamese fighting fish prefer water temperatures of 24-30 degrees Celsius, or 75-86 degrees Fahrenheit.80 degrees or so, they are tropical and live in rice patties through out Asia. They should have a heater in tank and not be kept in tiny glass bowl at least a 5gallon tank would be best with at least 3 femal bettas
Innately, Siamese fighting fish fight and just need practice with stregnth and agility. You can train them by dangling a blade of grass into the bowl and jurking it away when they come close. make sure you do this in a bowl that is big enough so that you do not force it to bump into the walls and weaken itself.
They can technically live without them, so they don't necessarily need any. But it's a good idea: any plant is good, but one that has lots of thick leaves is best. They use them to hide when they feel nervous or tense. A real plant is better than plastic because it absorbs nitrogen and other wastes and oxygenates the water. I got this from another contributor. Jayrusalem answered this question: What kinds of plants do Siamese fighting fish need? I thought it was the same.
Yes. There are marine Betas as well as freshwater ones. The freshwater Bettas are Siamese fighting fish (Betta splendens). The marine or saltwater is Marine Betta (Calloplesiops altivelis)and are from the Indian ocean.
