no one really knows but Ive been a vampire researcher for years and i have figured that they dont have a reflection
However, physically, any object that emits (or reflects) light, MUST show up in a mirror, that's because the reflection doesn't have anything to do with WHAT does it, it's about whether it emits light or not. Since we can see (theoretically) vampires, they should also have a reflection, as they do emit light.
The belief that vampires do not cast reflections in mirrors is a common superstition in vampire folklore. This idea is rooted in the connection between mirrors and the soul, and the belief that vampires lack a soul or have an altered, supernatural reflection that cannot be seen in a mirror.
Yes. the vampires in twilight do have reflections. it is just a myth that they dont, humans just made the myth up so they would think they would stand a chance at defeating a vampire. Some vampires have had trouble in accepting the fact of their new existence and couldn't bear to see their reflections: a reminder of who they were and what they have become. Other vampires have suffered great denial, refusing to see the fact of their reflection. From instances such as this has evolved the myth of a vampire not having a reflection.
In folklore, vampires are often portrayed as having no reflection in mirrors because they lack a soul or have supernatural qualities that disrupt the reflection. This attribute adds to the mystique and otherworldly nature of vampires in popular culture.
Edward Cullen dismisses the characteristics of vampires as being killed by sunlight, sleeping in coffins, and not being able to see their reflections in a mirror as myths. He explains that these traditional beliefs are not accurate for vampires in the Twilight series.
In folklore, vampires do not have reflections in mirrors, water, or other reflective surfaces because they are believed to lack a soul. This lack of reflection is sometimes seen as a metaphor for their immorality or separation from humanity. The idea has been popularized in various works of fiction and has become a common characteristic of vampires in modern vampire lore.
You can blame Bram Stoker for this one. In his story, Jonathan Harker notes that the mirrors in the house are all missing or covered. His own travel mirror for shaving is broken when the Count looks into it. Other popular legends state that mirrors are covered as to not give away the presence of a Vampire, since they cannot, traditionally, cast reflections. -Indiriel -- This stereotype is the result of only a few vampires having an aversion to their own reflections and is not typical of all. Some vampires are not entirely comfortable with what they have become (a vampire of course) and shrink from the sight of their reflection as it brings to mind what they once were, their present condition, what it is that they do, and all the incidences that lead up to it ect.
Just as vampires are said not to have reflections, some ghosts are said to appear in mirrors while otherwise invisible. The intangible nature of virtual images is often associated with surreal or supernatural influences.
Vampiri are everywhere, even in South Africa. Real Vampires, not the Hollywood myths. They do not turn into bats, sleep in coffins, or burst into flames in sunlight. And they definitely have reflections and do not sparkle. Real Vampires are people who do not make enough energy on their own and have to feed off the energy of others to stay healthy, whether through pranic (chi or ka) energy (PSI), or energy from blood (Sang). Where ever there are people, there will be Vampires also."
Because they don't exist? So you can recognize them?It makes for cute special effects?ANSWERS:Vampire's aren't really into reflections mainly because way too often reflection succumbs to self reflection and self reflection is a vampires worst enemy...well, besides sunlight, wooden stakes, holy water, crucifixes and God. Vampires, you see, were human before they became vampires and now that they are vampires they must prey on other humans in order to survive. You can well imagine what self reflection will do to a hunter vampire, once human now stalking his human prey. It boggles the mind. There are some romantic writers such as Anne Rice who attempt to describe vampires reflecting but if you've read these books you all ready know how dangerous vampires reflecting can be. Perhaps vampires should leave the reflecting for the Frankenstein Monsters and reprogrammed Terminators and do what they do best, sashay around the night in cool capes, sucking the blood out of their victims and sleeping in coffins by day. Of course, it's a free country and if vampires want to reflect they certainly have the right to do so. It's pretty certain they don't, on a whole, reflect by choice. It's a matter of lifestyle choices.2nd person here, but umm...some say that your reflection is your soul and since vampires are dead they have no soul creating no reflection (I like this one).
