most electric airsoft guns don't shoot metal bbs. the metal airsoft bbs are designed to be used in sniper rifles not machine guns Yes.. kind of pointless unless you have like a 700fps monster though. Not wise but very doable. Assuming its 6 or 8 mm, depending on your aeg caliber.

Green gas is required for Gas airsoft guns to work. Usually when you purchase airsoft guns, it will state whether or not the gun is a Spring loaded, CO2 Gas, Green Gas, Or Electric (AEG) Rifle. What is a gas powered airsoft gun?

A gas powered airsoft gun is a type of gun run of compressed gasses as opposed to a spring or gearbox. Gas guns often have magazines with gas reservoirs in them that require filling with gas (and bbs) before firing. The way most gas guns work is that when you pull the trigger you release a hammer that strikes a valve that momentarily releases some of the gas in the reservoir, propelling a single bb forward (or in the case a shotgun or grenade launcher 3 to 180+ bbs). Gas guns come in all shapes and sizes, but the biggest market is probably gas blow back pistols because they can fire on full or semi auto and have more power than there spring counterparts.

What types of airsoft guns are there?

Airsplat.com is the place where I learned about airsoft guns and how they work. Their Customer Service is friendly and will answer any questions you have about Airsoft guns. First of all there are 3 different Airsoft guns; SPRING, GAS, and ELECTRIC. Spring guns are manually functioned meaning you have to manually retract the cocking mechanism to shoot one BB at a time. Gas guns are typically filled with CO2 cartridges or Green Gas which is a mixture of 100% Silicon and Propane which both the CO2 cartridge and the Green Gas are loaded into the magazine. The Electric working airsoft guns are powered by batteries and electronic components that are upgradable can enhance the performance of the guns rate of fire and durability.

What is battery powered airsoft gun?

Generally, airsoft guns are divided into two according to its source of power to propel BBs, which are spring (mechanical)or pressurized gas. Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) or Automatic Electric Pistol (AEP) uses spring as the power to propel BBs. AEG/AEP use a motor to pull back the piston, compressing the spring. The motor itself use battery/ies to work.

Do gas airsoft guns come with gas?

There are several types of gas that you can use in gas powered airsoft guns, it just depends on what kind of gun you have and what kind of performance you want. The main types of gas used are green gas, red gas, co2, propane, and duster gas. Most guns that run co2 use 12 gram capsules and are co2 specific, wile most green gas guns can run red gas (which is more powerful than green gas) with some upgrades. All green gas guns will also run propane (but you will need an adapter to fit on to the propane cylinder) this is the cheapest gas, but you will need to lubricate your gun more often because propane has no silicone oil in it. Duster gas is hard to get in the states and is very weak compared to the other 4 types of gas it is mainly used in very hot conditions to keep performance normal.

Is an air-soft gun the same as a pellet gun?

No. First off, airsoft guns are chambered in a larger calibre, they're around .25" ( 6mm ). Modern BB guns are all .177 caliber. Pellet guns can be .177", .22" or .25", but bb's only come in .177 ( unless it's a real oldie which might be in .22 ) Second, airsofts all only shoot plastic balls or paint capsules. .177 BB's are copper plated steel the and the .22's are lead, and most BB guns will shoot the hourglass shaped lead pellets as well as BB's. Finally, airsoft rounds are propelled by a 'hammer" coming up and slamming into the round which drives it out the end of the barrel, BB's are always (so far as I know) propelled by a burst of air.
