Automatic Electric Gun (AEG) or Automatic Electric Pistol (AEP) uses spring as the power to propel BBs. AEG/AEP use a motor to pull back the piston, compressing the spring. The main types of gas used are green gas, red gas, co2, propane, and duster gas. Most guns that run co2 use 12 gram capsules and are co2 specific, wile most green gas guns can run red gas (which is more powerful than green gas) with some upgrades. All green gas guns will also run propane (but you will need an adapter to fit on to the propane cylinder) this is the cheapest gas, but you will need to lubricate your gun more often because propane has no silicone oil in it. Duster gas is hard to get in the states and is very weak compared to the other 4 types of gas it is mainly used in very hot conditions to keep performance normal.

No. First off, airsoft guns are chambered in a larger calibre, they're around .25" ( 6mm ). Modern BB guns are all .177 caliber. Pellet guns can be .177", .22" or .25", but bb's only come in .177 ( unless it's a real oldie which might be in .22 ) Second, airsofts all only shoot plastic balls or paint capsules. .177 BB's are copper plated steel the and the .22's are lead, and most BB guns will shoot the hourglass shaped lead pellets as well as BB's. Finally, airsoft rounds are propelled by a 'hammer" coming up and slamming into the round which drives it out the end of the barrel, BB's are always (so far as I know) propelled by a burst of air.
