Bipolar disorder is hereditary, but it is very common for it to skip generations. If a child doesn't actually have it, mimicking parents who do will not make them bipolar.

However, as children mimic behavior; they may exhibit the symptoms of bipolar disorder.

Where can one find out what the symptoms are for bipolar depression?

Bipolar depression, similar to depression, is a disorder where depression lasts but may be mixed with episodes of mania or excitement. When looking to find out the symptoms of this disorder, Webmd is a great starting point. There it will list plenty of other disorders that may be similar and also help one have a better understanding of what it really means to have bipolar depression. Another place would be the Bipolar homepage; there many suffering from bipolar disorders of all kinds can share stories or give hope to those still suffering.

What is in a bi polar?

Bipolar disorder is a type of depression. There's nothing in it as your question asks. I means you're unhappy (most of the time, but not all the time), you feel stressed out and annoyed sometimes as well.Wrong! Bipolar disorder is not a type of depression! One can be diagnosed bipolar I and never have had any depression, only mania. Admittedly depression is common with bipolar disorder but they are not the same. Some forms of bipolar disorder and their typical symptoms:bipolar I - at least one manic episode, may or may not have depressive episodes (this was previously called manic depression)bipolar II - has never had a manic episode, recurrent depressive episodes (this was previously just diagnosed as recurrent depression)cyclothymia - has never had either manic or depressive episodes, only recurrent periods of hypomania (i.e. mild mania) and dysthymia (i.e. mild depression)Bipolar I & II may or may not have psychosis at the extremes of manic or depressive episodes. Cyclothymia will never have psychosis.

Is it safe for a bipolar person on medications Klonopin neurontin and lithium to be with children?

There should be no problem at all, I would only be concerned if the bipolar person took no medication. However, totally independent of bipolar or no bipolar there are of course people that are not safe with children. But the statistical chance of this is no different between those with mental illnesses and those without.

Did God put depression and bipolar disorder inside a born artist when they were first born?

Regardless of religion, there are many artists who have forms of bipolar disorder. Depression is part of bipolar disorder; only very specific kinds of depression are considered separate from bipolar symptoms in someone who has BPD. Not every natural artist has the disorder, but so many do that it is considered helpful in the creative field. Art of all kinds needs spirited passion. People who have BPD have plenty of spirited passion for whatever fields of work they enjoy.

What is the difference between depression and bi polar?

The main difference between them is that people with depression experience only depression, whereas people afflicted by bipolar disorder experience both depression and hypomania or mania. When someone is depressed they often link everything to being their fault and often feel like suicide.Whereas, my friend who has bipolar is different in the sense that when you have bipolar, you experience happy and sad emotions, that contrast each other greatly. I see my friend having a laugh and enjoying herself. Then totally depressed another time.Bipolar disorder causes dramatic mood swings-from overly "high" and/or irritable (Mania) to sad and hopeless (Depression), and then back again, often with periods of normal mood in between. Severe changes in energy and behavior go along with these changes in mood. The periods of highs and lows are called episodes of mania and depression. People with bipolar disorder can have episodes of mild to severe mania in addition to severe depressive episodes. (Mild mania is called hypomania. )There are 2 main types of bipolar disorder. Bipolar 1 includes severe depressive and manic episodes and in some cases visual or auditory hallucinations. Bipolar 2 includes hypomania alternating with depression.

Not all depression is caused by inherited factors, but there is a very strong hereditary link. This could be due to a tendency to inherit low seratonin levels, which is one of the causes of depression.
