No. Very few shark species will attack a human unprovoked . Often, in stories one hears, a shark mistakes the figure of a human on a surf board for a seal. The best way to avoid sharks is to avoid splashing and not to cut yourself.

As to your question, no, there are no records of a human ever been killed by a whale shark. There are two records of an attack though. One is a provoked human attack which means that the human was doing something they should have not been doing. And one is a boat attack which means that again, the people were probably doing something they should have not. But no, no deaths.

Where they are wrong is that whale sharks do not eat "meat". Though they are mainly filter feeders and will feed off plankton they have also discovered that they do hunt and eat fish (mainly species that move in large schools) as well as tuna and even squid.

Basking sharks are plankton feeders and if they ever kill anyone it might be by accidental tipping over a boat, they don't bite people.

They can't bite because their mouths don't close!

Yes, like all sharks, they will attack if they are hungry and they mistake you as their prey. Bull sharks are listed in the top three for most unprovoked attacks.

There has never been a recorded attack on humans by Basking Sharks. Basking Sharks are plankton eaters and are not a threat to humans.

No. Whale sharks are filter feeders. If you're larger than krill and the like, you're safe.

no.... though they are quite large, they are very gentle sharks and only eat plankton and small fish. Plus, they only swim like 5kph.
