Not all... Older ones worked on a 'grid' system. There were sensors built into the edge oif the monitor - which detected where you were touching the screen.
Modern screens use TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology... The screen is made up of two thin layers of conductive material and normally, no current flows between the two layers. When you touch the screen, you force the two layers closer together (temporarily). This changes the resistance between the layers, and the computer converts the change to commands.

Yeah that's the cool thing about ALL DS's all have touch screens

No
Yes, all iPhone and iPod Touch models use the same operating system, meaning the same software updates.
It is all right to put touch screen phones into your pockets, but you should make sure that you do not put them in the same pocket where you have your keys. The metal keys will really scratch the screens, even if you have cases on the phones. You may have locked the phones so that they cannot call anyone, but this will be the least of your worries if the screens are ruined.
haptic technology or haptic feedback is used on touch screens. not all touch screens have this feature and as of now only certains types can have it. haptic feedback is when you press down on a touch screen and the device will vibrate to show a button is being pressed.
Fingernails do not work on capacitive touch screens. These are found on most newer touch screen phones, including iPhones, HTC, Sony Ericssons runnning android etc. Capacitive screens ue the electrical conductivenes of the human body to work. Resistive screens can be used using fingernails, but are not used in phones anymore.
