They don't have external ear shells like humans, but they do have inner ears and are able to hear sounds. Salamanders however are more sensitive to vibrations, because they may announce aproaching predators.

Yes, amphibians usually have ears but they are on the sides of the amphibians head and not external, on a frog or toad they are the round flat spot behind the eye.
