As they don't believe in the existence of God who would they pray to?
No I doubt if atheists pray.
Atheism is the absence of belief in gods. Atheists do not pray.
Typically, Atheists see no need to pray, as they believe there is no God. However, there is no rule saying that if you are Atheist, you cannot pray. If you believe in some form of a Divine Being, you can pray to him/her. ^ ^ If you believe in a divine being, you're not an Atheist.
Atheism has no prayers. Why talk to ourselves?
No group has a unified approach to things. Some atheists see problems as opportunities for improvement, others as a reason to run around in circles feeling upset, still others have their own personal response.
Yes. There are Chinese gods and goddesses, much like there have been in other places, and it is common practice for believers to pray to them. While some Chinese have now converted to other religions (e.g. Christianity), or become agnostics or atheists, others still pray to these old gods & goddesses.
Atheists, by definition, do not believe in a higher power. They therefore have nobody to pray to and no reason to pray. As a result they clearly do not want prayer to be a mandatory activity or an activity that requires pro-active opt-out. Most atheists do not mind people of faith praying but they believe any government/public promotion or endorsement of one religion over another or religion over non-religion is a violation of the first amendment of the constitution. This position is exactly the one stated by the Supreme Court in the 1971 Lemon test and the 1984 endorsement test. If a public school official/employee leads children in prayer at school, it is an implicit endorsement of religion (and usually a specific religion). If a student wants to pray at school in private or in a small group of like-minded students, that is perfectly legal under the constitution and perfectly acceptable to the vast majority of atheists.
If by "most atheists", you are referring to the entire world, the population of atheists in China dwarfs the rest of the world's atheist population. Most Chinese Atheists adhere to a combination of Confucian and Materialistic philosophical principles. If by "most atheists", you are referring to Western Atheists, such as those in Europe and Anglo-America, these Atheists adhere to Rationalist Skepticism or Humanism as philosophical principles.
Atheists are people who do not believe in religion. The atheists were the most calm and rational people involved in the debate.Studies find that atheists are generally happier and more successful than those who follow Christianity.
