California produces most of the world's almonds and has very large almond orchards. Without bees to pollinate the blossom the almond harvest would fail so beekeepers ship thousands of hives in to the orchards in springtime for their bees to perform the task.

No, black walnuts (Juglans nigra) are not pollinated by bees.

Specifically, the black walnut tree does not depend upon insect pollination. Instead, it relies upon wind pollination. A tree will be able to guarantee future generations by self-pollination even though results are better when the wind disperses pollen among a grove as opposed to within one tree.
