Child support for a 17-year-old continues regardless of the child's school status. In general, 18 is the minimum age to terminate support.
I doubt they will to jail for non-payment of child support -especially if they are willing to make payments on arrears and continue current payments. Sounds like they are starting to do the responsible thing.

No. The court's role is to distribute payments they receive from the obligors.
Yes, all US states recognize and enforce child support orders. If the payments are being made through CPS or another state agency they will continue as usual. If the payments are being made by the non custodial parent the court order for support still remains valid and enforceable.
yes im homeschooled and i love it!!!
No, there is no way to legally "opt out" of child support. If a court order has been established for child support, the obliger is required to continue paying, regardless of whether or not the recipient wants to continue receiving payments.

Continue to make your payments through Colorado until notified otherwise. CO SDU should transfer the payments to Tennessee.
In my sister's case the child support payments are only defered until he serves his 2-10 years. They will only continue to add up until he has payed the amount in full. This would also depend on what state you are in. We are in MI.
Catch up on your child support payments.
Child support can be garnished from RSDI payments (but not SSI).
